        Founded in 1958, Tianjin University of Science and Technology is one of the first batch of four light industry undergraduate colleges established in China. The school has a long history and strong scientific research strength in the field of food nutrition and safety research. It is in a leading position in the field of domestic food nutrition and safety research. In 2004, the “Tianjin Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety” was approved by Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Committee; in 2007, it was established as a key laboratory jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Tianjin City; in 2009, it was accepted by the Ministry of Education, formally approved as the "Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety , Ministry of Education." The State Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety is supported by the Tianjin Science and Technology Commission and related departments, and relies on Tianjin University of Science and Technology.
 
      In recent years, the laboratory has received more than 40 scientific and technological awards, including 6 national science and technology awards; presided over or participated in more than 100 national-level scientific research projects; published more than 370 SCI-searched papers; 137 authorized national invention patents; And completed a number of major scientific research transformation projects, adding more than 100 billion yuan in economic benefits.

       The key laboratories rely on traditional specialty industries such as “Food Science” and “Fermentation Engineering” of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, focusing on the cutting-edge and hot areas of research on food quality safety and food nutrition and health, and on the basis of safeguarding national health and major scientific and technological needs.
