2018 International Symposium on Food Nutrition and Safety Grandly Held


     From April 20th to April 21st, 2018 International Symposium on Food Nutrition and Safety was held in Tianjin Xinmao Tiancai Hotel. The conference was organized by the Nutritional Guidance Committee of the China Food Industry Association, and organized by the State Key Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Safety, School of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology. Foreign experts from Clemson University in the United States, the University of Central Queensland in Australia, the Moscow State Technical and Management University in Moscow, Russia, and the WTO Center for WTO Research and Training in Russia, and from Beijing Technology and Business University, Jiangnan University, Shandong Agricultural University, Huazhong Agricultural University, and Anhui Experts and scholars from agricultural universities and other universities, as well as leaders from domestic well-known food companies and people from the industry, attended the seminar and gave wonderful reports.


       At the opening ceremony held on the morning of the 20th, Ms. Du He, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Nutrition Guidance Committee of the China Food Industry Association, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizer. Han Jinyu, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the University, represented the host on behalf of the host. President Han briefly introduced the situation of teaching and research in our school and hoped that participating experts and scholars will continue to support the development of school food nutrition and safety education, teaching and scientific research.


        The opening ceremony was hosted by Zhang Min, deputy secretary of the party committee of the School of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, and Dean Zhang Min.


        Prof. Sun Baoguo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the Beijing University of Industry and Technology, gave a special report on “China's Food Safety Decade: Upgrading and Challenges” at the conference. Academician Sun combed the food safety situation in recent years and summarized the country’s food Efforts and achievements in safety education and propaganda, scientific research, systems, legislation, etc., and prospects for the future development of this field. Later, Chen Yongquan, Dean of the National 1000-person Distinguished Professor from Jiangnan University, Prof. Padraig Strappe from Central Queensland University, Prof. Chen Feng from Clemson University and Prof. Zhou Zhongkai from the University of Jiangnan University respectively influenced the development of tumors and natural products from dietary lipids. A special report was made on the construction of biologically active cell culture models, the detection of liquor plasticizers, and the differences in function and regulation of resistant starch. Afterwards, the conference also conducted four special reports on "Food Safety Symposium," "Food Nutrition Symposium," "New Technology, New Processes," and "Functional Food," which led to heated discussions among delegates. The wonderful speech won applause from more than 400 participating experts and colleagues.


        On the afternoon of the 21st, more than 100 delegates visited the key laboratories and Master Kong Beverage Impression Museum. The advanced research conditions, rich research results, and management systems for scientific research of key laboratories and food colleges were generally praised by experts; the production workshop of Master Kong drinks and automated production processes also left a deep impression on the visiting delegates.


         The seminar has strongly promoted academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of food nutrition and safety, expanded the food science and engineering disciplines in our school, especially the influence of food nutrition and safety research in the country, and will promote the development of this subject in our university.
